The truth is both are fungi and both are necessary for our environment. But not in our bodies or our homes. To answer the question, mildew is mold in it's early stages.

Mold can grow fast. It can take only 24 to 48 hours for it to grow. In 1 to 12 days mold can colonize and grow fast.

Mold can come from many sources, some you may not have even thought of.
